Re: What are your favorite fanworks to make?
(Anonymous) 2022-08-10 06:47 am (UTC)(link)Ever since I was a kid I love to draw and enjoy fanarts. Including pixel arts, fancomics and such. I suck at it badly even though I studied for ages (actual brain issues). So it's not what others know me for but it's what I like and treasure the most.
And I have similar feelings toward the art of cosplaying - I do it a lot and suck at it (indeed my trembling hands and abnormal sensitivity to contact lenses are struggles ...) but I still love the hobby and appreciate others' works.
FMVs and video edits are a close third. I haven't created any in almost a decade, even because the programs and nature of FMVs has changed a lot in the era of Tiktok but I LOVED to create and enjoy these. I was... kinda good at it back when being good didn't require expensive softwares or skills besides "hey this song fits those scenes / characters" .
Then... Graphic making in general, stuff like wallpapers and web layouts, I used to love making these. Not sure what's the present day equivalent though. Hmm. Wasn't very good at it, now my skills are very outdated but it was enjoyable.
And lastly fanfic. I don't read or write much, though. I am very, very picky regarding canon-compliance and grammar. I have been praised for my writing before, but being ESL, publishing fic means having to choose between publishing in my native language and getting 5 hits or struggling for 20 hours with spellchecking, both of which I dread. So hypergraphia be damned I don't write much lol.
As for mashups and compositions - can't make these but admire those who can. I used to make fanmixes though, guess I still do even if I don't publish them anymore. It's what I do because my FMV loving brain still connects characters and fandoms to songs but I don't express these associations through FMVs anymore lol.
