People OP doesn’t like do various things. OP writes a character as doing those things. People read the fics, and according to OP, they like the character. OP thinks that proves the readers are terrible people, because only terrible people would like a character who does these things.

Depends on if you mean just the media. Like, I love all of Buffy. I will cringe because it is a Whedon show. But it still holds up in spite of its shitty creator.

You could not steal from other fics, realize that lots of people unfortunately have experience doing an annoying/absurd thing, realize doing an annoying/absurd thing doesn't necessarily make anyone an overall bad person, realize that you are not better than any of these people because this thing that you have done is annoying and absurd.
