What is a good US state, outwith New England, for mixed use farming? Livestock (cattle, goats, that sort of thing) as well as hay and small scale cereal cropping? Are any of the midwest states any use? TIA.

I haven't read any of his stuff in 15 or 20 years, so I guess it's *possible* he's a more competent writer than I remember. OTOH I was not generally a more critical and discerning reader at 15.

My sisters' birthdays are this week (one on 11th, one on 12th). So visiting one this weekend and then grilling out tomorrow. Hopefully going to get by Costco as well.
