If you write dark fic that's not necessarily an option.

I feel like in the day of the internet there's gotta be some sort of dark writing group somewhere. Look at the shit that gets published...

Depends how dark and in which ways. My original stuff is pretty dark (albeit less sexual than my fic) and I still went into regular writing competitions with it.

I mean maybe talk to the person leading the class and ask what is and isn't OK to write for a group setting?
