There are snarky replies because the anon who made that comment is offering a solution so obvious and basic that it comes off as pretty condescending.

NAYRT - Anon's advice may be obvious, but the anon they were responding to expressed that they weren't financially able to acquire all their Halloween decorations at once, which suggests they probably are buying quite a few new decorations each year. I am living below the poverty line, and the amount I have to spend on decorations each year is under $20, because I reuse as much as possible. So yeah, anon's advice about reusing decorations is legit.

I'm sure they meant well. But I can't help but wince whenever someone goes, "Oh hey, you're poor, you say? Have you tried, like, I dunno... SAVING MONEY????" Obviously that's legit advice, it just sounds very "the millenials can't afford houses because avocado toast"ish.
