Re: Emotionally devastating but fitting endings

The Talented Mr Ripley (movie). It's one of my favorite endings, but also so disturbing and sad that it deters me from rewatching the movie very often.

The ending of It Follows was spot on and I unwittingly demonstrated how spot on it was by saying "Oh my god, behind you!" at the screen literally half a second before the screen went to credits. And then I just sat there, realizing I'd just exhibited the exact reaction the movie wanted me to, at the exact moment it wanted me to exhibit it, and I was like, touche, movie. Touche.

There's also a little indie Canadian apocalypse movie called Last Night that I felt had a really perfect ending. But I only saw the movie once like thirteen years ago, so it's possible I wouldn't like it as much now.

Now I definitely need to re-watch The Talented Mr. Ripley. People keep mentioning it and I realize it’s been ages and I don’t remember it that well.

Yeah, +1 on The Talented Mr Ripley movie and I second the recommendation as well.
