Re: Emotionally devastating but fitting endings

One reason I go so hard for Vagrant Story is because after beating it the first time, I started a new game, and then proceeded to run up the clock to 99:99 because I wasn't sure I wanted to put myself through the ending again. It's perfect, but brutal.

Also in video games, gotta point out Shadow of the Colossus.

And I think movie-wise, Terminator 3 counts? I get why some folks might not have agreed with how things went down there, but personally I thought it... I don't know how to describe it. It had weight that an unambiguous "we saved the world again!" ending wouldn't have.
