What comment are you even responding to?? AYRT didn't say anything about people thinking this was the "only legit gay thing that exists." Just that people didn't know going into it that it was going to be a queer love story, and most of them were probably trying not to get their hopes up. So when their ship turned out to be canon after all, it felt extra miraculous.
