Girl, a few months ago I came face to face with an old French dude and IDK what it was but a few weeks later I was in bed thinking about him and being like, "Wow, I think I get the appeal of older men of a certain type." And that's nothing to say about how people were grossed out by Al Pacino and his 28yo gf? ...I've never played a RE game (I know, shame on me) so I have no reference for this music or this merchant or the context surrounding it...

But reading this secret about hearing a merchant theme and reacting to it did immediately make my brain flash back to unexpectedly running into the merchant in the SNES game Drakkhen and the incredibly creepy music that played there. So I think I understand how you feel.

I think there's some truth in that. The lack of face to face interaction in internet fandom depersonalizes things.

On the flip side, I also think many people forget that anything you say on the internet, esp social media, is basically presenting your thoughts and opinions to a crowd of any-old-strangers who are not obliged to be kind to you, and expecting only positive responses to anything you say, because people should remember you want to be loved, is a little naive.
