What would be good destinations for a two week, round trip, road trip out of Lincoln Nebraska for mid July next year?

Depends on the direction you want to go, but I've always wanted to visit House on the Rock in WI & the Mutter Museum, PA. I live on the west coast, though. :(

Ordinarily I'd say Yellowstone National Park, but there's been a lot of damage from flooding there this year.

Chicago, Door County WI, Michigan Upper Peninsula, MN Boundary Waters. You got both your natural beauty and your bright-lights-big-city. Make sure to take a boat tour on both Michigan and Superior.

You could drive along the North Shore in Minnesota and brag that you've been to a place called Castle Danger. I've never been to the Apostles but I hear they're nice. I low key want to go to Mackinac Island someday.

Not to be too pedantic, because those sound like lovely ideas, but Mackinac is probably not the best choice for a road trip...

What do you like to see and do? You're centrally located so there are lots of possibilities, but in July I'd avoid going south because I hate hot weather. The Pacific Northwest is beautiful, and if you went via Wyoming and Montana, that'd be some gorgeous scenery along the way.

A bit closer is Chicago if you want to do some big-city stuff like museums and restaurants. The Great Lakes region is pretty, especially western/upper Michigan. If you want to go further, there's Niagara Falls and Toronto.

Head up to Laramie, WY and follow the Donner Party route to Sutter's Fort in Cali. Bring snacks.

Maybe New Mexico and see White Sands, Chaco Canyon, Bandelier, etc. That's Probably not enough for two weeks but you could tour Arizona too and see Meteor Crater, the Titan Missle Museum or go up to Colorado to see Mess Verde and hang out in the Rockies.
