I actually used to dance to this song every morning, for a couple of years! (Ages ago.) So I guess Shatner did help me get a tad fitter. But never in my life have I ever been fit enough to climb a mountain.
pantswarrior: Remote-control Vulcan? BEST CHRISTMAS EVER! (oh-em-gee!)

I just had to go look it up on YouTube for old times sake. And then rediscovered the Shatner version of Common People as well (which I still say is actually... strangely good). :D

And I have to say that is some excellent motivation to get some exercise. I don't think I could do that anymore but maybe an ab workout from laughing...

I genuinely love that version! I also enjoy his Rocket Man, the original broadcast version when he was taking it seriously. It's hilarious. But his Common People I love for more than the lols.

When a friend and I used to spend a lot of time on Second Life, years ago, we'd hang about socializing in DJed clubs, then after a while, request Shatner's Rocket Man from the DJ. Always made people go "wtfff??" when it began. lolol. I miss those days.
pantswarrior: Gumshoe looks like he's plotting something. (mischievous)

Hahahahaha. When I used to do karaoke, I'd sometimes "take requests" with the caveat that if I didn't know the song well enough to sing, it would be done in the style of William Shatner.

I mean sometimes, yeah, it really does work out when he's doing it. Sometimes... not so much. But it's always fun. :D

I totally non-ironially love Common People and Joe Jackson and Ben Folds for making it so great.

Also this is a terrific secret OP!
