I totally feel you on not being able to do other stuff while watching TV with subtitles. What Bong Joon-ho said about overcoming the "one-inch-tall barrier of subtitles" works for the movie theater where I'm already just looking at the screen anyway and have nowhere else to be, but isn't compatible with cooking or folding laundry at home. If I want to watch something with subtitles at home I need to specifically carve out some time for it.

Yeah and also... the whole "overcoming the one-inch-tall barrier of subtitles" is a bit iffy to me because I know plenty of people who are not fast readers (doubly so with English subs when their native language isn't English and subs ins their native language don't exist) and even I, even though I usually don't have any issues with following subs, sometimes can't read them all in Cdramas because they are FAST. So I KNOW a lot of people actually can't just ~overcome the one-inch-tall barrier of subtitles" and that's just regular people who aren't fast readers, not even people who have any more severe impairments.
