Where does this comparison even come from? They acted in such different eras of movie production, tropes, acting styles, etc., it wouldn't ever occur to me to compare the two. Actually, not positive I've ever seen Lon Chaney Sr, only Jr as the Wolf Man, and that was certainly not the best acting.

Lon Chaney Sr was a by far superior actor to his son. (He played the 1925 Phantom of the Opera, and other silent roles.)

I agree with you that it makes no sense to compare him to Robert Downey Jr though! Though RDJ did play a great Chaplin. Literally the only connection I can think of.

I can't shake the feeling that this is a bizarre joke.

(Anonymous) 2022-08-24 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Or a reference to something obscure?

(Anonymous) 2022-08-24 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I saw Robert Downey Jr walking with the queen, doing the werewolves of London.

(Anonymous) 2022-08-24 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
His hair was perfect.

Damn that man is the hottest, though

I've known people and been in discords where I can imagine people having this debate. Early and classic film geeks. People will argue about literally anything, and Chaney still has passionate devotees. But I agree with anons above that it's a dumb comparison.

...What of it?

(Anonymous) 2022-08-24 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Setting aside the part where I don't understand why these two actors are being compared in the first place, what's actually amusing me about this secret is that the text feels like it might be from someone who doesn't like RDJ all that much, but then the image the secret-maker used is...kinda fire. I mean, I mainly find Tony Stark attractive for his charisma and not so much for his looks, but that picture of RDJ specifically is tres unf.

It really is. I've been gazing at it for half an hour.

(Anonymous) 2022-08-25 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
I find RDJ hot, especially as Tony, so yeah, that pic is absolutely 100% hot as fuck. So agreed.

+2

(Anonymous) 2022-08-25 02:31 am (UTC)(link)

Let us just hope RDJ never gets that closeup, Mr. DeMille.
