I'm going to just be deleting some of these that are getting spammy. Like random image + song lyrics. Or random images with phrases that make no sense. I'm also just not going to post anything where the majority of the text is in a language other than English (like c'mon, there's "controversial but theoretically plausible opinion" to toss in for fun reactions and then there's "I have no idea what 90% of this says/is supposed to mean"), or secrets praising themselves for making these secrets (?).

Do you prefer keyboard emoji's or the image options?

I think I'm always going to prefer the keyboard ones myself because I've been including it since my early days on livejournal doing these: >_< o_O ^_^
But I'm more of a :D person - which makes me annoyed when you get it changed to an automatic image since most of the time I'm left thinking 'That's the wrong emotion for :)'

Definitely a mix. For mostly everywhere I type on my computer/laptop I use keyboard ones (except discord because there's some cute channel specific ones), but when I text it's a mix of both depending on whom I am texting.

Also when I can be bothered to look for the websites, I like the Japanese emoticons (I mostly use them for tumblr and deviantart tbh)

I don’t do emojis here or on LJ, just in text, email, FB, etc. so I’m so used to it getting changed that it would be odd to me if it didn’t. The non picture kind look very old and outdated to me like it’s 1995 and I’m on mIRC via my tenth AOL trial talking to my friends about going to see Hackers.

lol well I do enjoy being an old fart of the internet for fun.

I don't even know how to do the image ones. If anyone has time to enlighten me, this ancient nonny would be most grateful!

I go to emojipedia.org to get them. They also provide the lingo/context of using some emojis. I feel old but informed LOL

Always keyboard. I started out on local BBSes where there were no images unless you counted ansi, and darnit I hate when :D or =) get converted into something that just to me doesn't have the same feel. And :P tends to be used by me for exasperation, but the graphical one looks cheeky and I hate it.

I am also annoyed that you can't do *_* or ^__________^ on Discord, because I have very specific use cases for those (and ^_^ is definitely not the same as ^_________^).

It's possible to get them to work, but it'd require putting a \ before everything.

It doesn't matter, I get the idea either way. I guess if I HAD to choose one though, I'd pick the images.

Text always. Partly because image emoji rarely display right on my computer (if they even display at all).

Here, and the few forums I post on (minus the one that's against all emojis of any type), I use text/keyboard ones, but when texting I use the image ones.

I prefer keyboard emojis for most of the basics, but I've been largely persuaded to embrace whatever the norm is for the medium I'm in.

I basically only use emojis on my work Slack

I think the keyboard ones are more appealing but use the image ones more because it's easier on my phone
