I don't remember how long Frasier was on, but I watched it from episode 1, and I really loved it, and then after a couple of years (as I recall) I had to stop watching because the cringe comedy got so bad, I was squirming with embarrassment every week for Frasier. So I say no, it wasn't always that excruciatingly bad, but it got there!
