I thought the show using Jane Leeves' pregnancy as an excuse to make the tackiest fat jokes possible was really cringey and I won't watch those eps but other than that I really liked the show except for the Lilith-is-evil comments. I rather liked Lilith and anyway one reason she and Frasier got divorced was he cheated on her so he was no saint.

I did like how the whole thing with Daphne's weight did lead to the storyline of Niles having to adjust to getting away from his idealized image of her, and how both his inability to see her struggles and her eating issues tapped into some respective insecurities about themselves and their burgeoning relationship with each other that they had to work through. I thought that was an interesting way to handle that.

I agree the jokes were tacky, though. At the same time, they also kind of fit, because Martin and Frasier often joked about Maris' weight, and Martin in general has always been pretty blunt with his comments about people's looks, so tacky as it was, it was also in character. Not that that makes it any better, mind, just an observation.
