Same, OP, same.

it sucks that they killed him off and I wish he stayed around,

but also, TBH seasons 3 and 4 are probably the best seasons of the show, so

S4 isn't the best.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-07 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
It's not as good as S3 but it's really good

It didn't make me stop watching the show, but I do wish they hadn't killed him off. And I generally support more Sean Astin on TV.

*Bob

Same. Like I knew Bob's relationship wasn't gonna last with Joyce because it's obvious Joyce and Hopper are endgame, but it feels so cheap and honestly, cynical, that this incredibly nice and kind man who is good to Joyce and her kids, and proves to be heroic, has to die. Doesn't get to live and bow out gracefully in the love triangle, just die.

Maybe I'd have accepted it more if Hopper wasn't such an insufferable jackass during season 3. Really soured me to his character and I liked him!

I shipped Joyce/Hopper in the first two seasons, but in the third season I kept thinking, "Man, Bob Newby died for this to be the payoff for my ship?"

Honestly, I would have liked it if Joyce and Hopper could have just been friends, but obviously THAT'S not possible.

Same. I wasn't really enjoying Hopper to begin with, but season 3 sealed his fate (for me), and I literally fast-forwarded through all of his crap in season 4 (i wish he had just gotten blown to bits, not transported to Russia).
