Of all the dead MCU characters, Groot is the one I care about most. He was too interesting and too unexplored to die so soon. I love a clearly un-human character and I really wanted to see more of the friendship between him and Rocket. It hurts all the more when there's cute-but-boring Baby Groot running around instead. (Don't even get me started on the awful Teen Groot.)

Well, there's no use arguing about taste or sense of humor. But FWIW I don't think I wouldn't really describe the movie as a parody. At least that's not the main thing that's going on.

You could describe elements of it as a parody, especially the way Jack is written. But even in that case, I think it's mostly not about parodying other action heroes, it's mostly just that Jack is a funny character on his own terms.
