Anyone have a tablet and can recommend a preferably budget one? After watching reviews and I am tossing between the Amazon Fire HD 10 or the Samsung A7 Lite.

It's really just going to be for ebooks, video streaming, writing, and light web browsing, intended most so I don't have to schlep my $2000 laptop when I go on vacation/to keep in my bag for when I need to read to kill time lol.

I don't have those specific models, but my dad had a Fire and it had some weird issues. I've had two different Samsung tablets though and really like(d) them (the first one I had for five years and it was still in good shape, I just wanted a newer model). My current one I've had for two and a half years and it's still great (I use it for the same things you're wanting one for). I have the regular Galaxy Tab with the 10.5 inch screen but my mom has a smaller one and loves it to read ebooks. Hers is really old (at least 7 or 8 years) and still works fine.

I'm rambling but my point is I'd recommend a Samsung. They hold up really well for years in my experience.

I've heard some negatives about the Fire because it's very restricted to Amazon services unless you're tech savvy, so I was already leaning towards the samsung, thank you! :)

I'm all for samsung.
Do you want to have one that has mobile data or just wifi/wlan connection? Asking because Samsung has tablets that come cheaper when you go wifi only. I got the galaxy tab S6 lite / wifi which was considerably less expensive than the LTE one.
The A Series has less processor power/storage so videos might not ve as smooth as on the S Series

I'm fine without the mobile data, I have no objection to carrying my phone around as well lol. Hmm, I saw the S6 Lite but it's $389 vs the $189 for the A7. Is it worth the extra $200?
