if you're viewing as a parody then that might be why, because it's not a parody at all; it's a very straight eastern martial arts movie with all the mystique and tropes that that entails

the funny is that this eastern martial arts movie features a stereotypical western action star who thinks he's the lead in a western action film, not the bumbling sidekick in an eastern martial arts film, and thus has no grasp of the mess he finds himself in
