I'm always amazed and the kinds of shows that seem to attract antis, but this is another case of 'did you guys not WATCH the thing?' for me because everyone in it is a mess, it's kinda the point. But then I'm convinced that most antis don't actually watch the shows they fandom hop into, only see gifsets of the ship they affix themselves to and create HC's+characterization from that alone.

I'm just amazed at how loud antis get over some things before they even come out and then continue to rant as the thing progresses. Like, you already decided it was going to be awful before even seeing it, so why did you decide to watch?

Mmm yeah, I've seen them decide that a show/story/plot point is going to be bad or awful but then they... still watch it? Like they don't seem to understand that they can just stop consuming something they don't like, it's super easy to drop shows and move on and there's no fault if someone does this. Not everything clicks with us and that's more than okay.

In my experience, antis watch it but they view shipping as a zero sum game. Like, if the major ship isn't theirs it somehow takes away from them, so they have to tear down all other ships to make theirs "better" or more valid somehow, even if those other ships don't include the same people. You see this fairly often with the Vegaspete shippers in KinnPorsche as well.

I don't pay too much attention to them honestly so I mostly catch things on the side-lines but that is so weird. I've got ships I don't like but I just avoid them and leave the shippers who like them alone because they're allowed to have their fun. Also while I do enjoy shipping I don't take it very seriously because fandom in general is just meant to be fun, otherwise why would I be here?

AYRT

Same. I really wish someone could do a study on antis; I'm so curious who they are. I'm a fandom old who grew up with SALS and the kinktomato, so this whole mindset is so foreign to me and I have no idea where it came from (other than puritanism, obvs) and who is perpetuating it, demographically speaking.

I don't know about antis/non antis, whatever. What I do see is people who take shipping WAYYYY too seriously (whether they're pro or anti) and people who are just trying to have a good time. In my fandom experience, way back when the forum/archive recommended sister sites/affiliates with different pairings -- so if you liked A/B, why not give B/C a shot?

Ahhhh wait, I just remembered I was on an anti twilight forum lmao. I still would write for the fandom (on a different archive), I just really disliked one pairing. BUT! I kept it to a specific forum, made for shitting on the characters. I didn't bring my poop to someone else's parade.

Anyway, this whole being WAY 2SRS about shipping...guys? Wtf. Lol. I can imagine it gets annoying. Sorry, OP.
