I guess this is mostly politics fandom but it applies across the board. It's something I've seen a lot with Queen Elizabeth's passing, but I've seen it in anime and TV fandoms, bandom, film fandoms...

I genuinely believe anyone who hates/rages/screams online about something - not just dislikes, not just thinks it should end or wants its flaws or biases, past atrocities or historical negatives acknowledged, but mouth-frothing, cursing, slur-laden hate - needs help.

Hate is a shitty thing to make a cornerstone of your identity, because what on earth do you do when the object of your hate is gone?

Re that last question: find someone/something else to hate, probably.
