The constant barrage of false accusations of pedophilia makes it much more difficult to take the real thing seriously. In fandom spaces, I now assume that accusation is bogus ship war bullshit 99% of the time (and I'm almost always right). For real victims, that truly sucks.

Same here. It's like the Boy Who Cried wolf. The accusations happen so often and they are so often false that people don't believe them when they're real. It makes it much harder to deal with genuine pedophiles and creepers who are preying on other people.

This doesn't just apply to "pedo" accusations either. It applies to a lot of the other "social justice" accusations that get levelled in ship wars as well.
