I adore MR and Luhrman's work in general, but I absolutely can see how the cutting/pacing in the first half of the movie would be a huge turnoff to a lot of people. I feel like he's one of those directors you either vibe with or don't, and even as a fan, I get why his style doesn't appeal to everyone.
