I liked La La Land, but I get where you're coming from. I do think it was over-hyped. Also, for some reason it seems like it resonated strongly with (white, het) guys specifically. Like, it's one of the only predominantly-romance movies that I have honestly heard more men being shook over than women, and that kind of fascinates me, but also I don't entirely get it. Not saying the romantic aspect was bad or anything, but it didn't resonate for me the way it did for, like, literally every het guy in my life.
