Hmm well I'm not American, and I understood that cartoon. Not sure if it's because I lived in the US for a few years (though not the Tea Party ones), or it's just that US cultural references are so widespread, especially if you're involved in politics on soial media. (Oddly out of date cartoon, though.)

It took me a couple reads to parse it, but I think what OP is saying is that people are doubting Matt Smith's casting because he's not conventionally attractive, and OP wishes those people didn't care so much about how he looks because he's actually a really good actor and very suited to the part.

(Personally I have no idea about very suited to the part, but from what I can remember seeing of him, Matt Smith is a great actor so I would have no reason to doubt his ability.)

I basically like him because I'm a sucker for floppy-haired highly intelligent autistic coded guys.

Also, not really related to this secret but related to Reid, I appreciated that they at least made an attempt at destigmatizing mental illness with his mother's schizophrenia being generally sympathetically portrayed. My biggest problem with shows like Criminal Minds is how much they inevitably play into fearmongering about mental illness, so I thought it was important they made an effort there.

He's not my favorite and the extent to which fandom runs with Woobie Special Main Character Reid is annoying. But at the end of the day I still like the character. It's nice when there's a funny nerdy smart character. I like that. MGG is a fun guy to watch on screen.

I think "to eat" in this context is Young Person Slang for doing something exceptionally well.
