Depends in what part of book fandom you are. There is definitely a pretty vocal group (of adults) that goes "Pls rec me books, but ONLY YA" all the time and spout stuff about how YA is so much better about diversity/difficult topics and not just "divorced housewife has to decide between kids and work written by a man" or full of sex + violence like apparently all adult books are. It's a bit bizarre.

Yeah, the "YA is great because literally all literary novels published are about college professors having affairs with their students" type of people.
