I get what you mean, but I’ve had phases of reading either only very easy books (YA and kids stuff) as well as phases where I read only super challenging stuff (like, historical texts and heavy nonfiction). When I’m in an “easy” phase, it’s usually because I’m burnt out from work or my injury is acting up and I want to unwind. So I don’t begrudge people wanting to take comfort in something fun, nor do I feel like I can assume what their reasons are or that they truly never want to read other stuff. Besides it’s really not a big deal if someone has different preferences as long as they aren’t looking down on mine (which is when I get annoyed).

I think it’s beyond annoying when YA fans act like no other genre has anything to offer. But I don’t care in the end how others spend their free time, or what type of book they read when it comes to reading for pleasure.
