This makes me sad that everyone watches streaming services these days. This is the kind of show we need in the primetime slot on a main channel that everyone watches. That's how you get multicultural societies integrating with each other - shared cultural experiences. Instead of everyone sticking to what they know.

Comedies are particularly good because laughing together is what builds bridges.

Would it even survive on a primetime slot, though? The more creative comedies got canceled a lot.

IDK I'm not sure how true this actually is, at least when you're talking about the time period during which young people actually watched primetime broadcast TV, before they stopped watching primetime broadcast TV and started watching streaming and time-delayed content exclusively.

Like, what are the examples here besides the 2 Judd Apatow shows? Arrested Development, Better Off Ted and Community all did multiple seasons. Community almost did enough to make it to syndication (97 episodes before they moved out of broadcast and into digital). And those last 2 were well within the streaming era.

In the UK it would. It's reminiscent of Goodness Gracious Me, which was a spectacular show that invited everyone to laugh with the people it was parodying instead of at.

I am also mad because a lot of that media never ends up on DVD or Blu Ray and I live in a part of Canada where not everyone has access to the kind of Internet service that would support streaming. It makes me mad that those folks won't have the option to see those shows via library loans or example

Also a very valid point.
