I mean, I like it better than Rune Factory or Story of Seasons because at least you can play a woman and date women*. And I like the game mechanics a lot. I'm not particularly here for the art, though.

*Yes, it's still pretty heteronormative in that there's no queerness except what you bring yourself, but that's still a step up from most.

OP, I'm a gay man myself, the new Story of Seasons and Rune Factory games do allow for same sex romance! Some of the characters are really good (though RF 5 doesn't let you romance the single moms who seems like the best choices to me...)-- I do appreciate that about Stardew Valley in spite of my petty dislike, though. But I recommend at least checking out Pioneers of Olive Town and RF5 to see if any of the bachelorettes appeal to you.

Both RF5 and SOS:FoMT and SOS: PoOT have gay marriage as an option.
