11. [SPOILERS for Stranger Things Season 4]

It's just exactly what's constantly frustrating about the way Stranger Things writes relationships. They have some idea about how two characters should get together, and so they write them together, and then they have no idea what to do with them afterwards. If they end up getting Steve and Nancy together again, they'll just break them up again later.

Plus the really frustrating bit about it is that Steve has much more interesting relationship plotlines. It's just that they're platonic, not romantic, and the show can't accept that. Despite the fact that it's about a million times better at platonic relationships.

The show's platonic relationships are SO EFFING GOOD.

NAYRT but yessss. Steven and Dustin's friendship is so fucking adorable. While I understand there's going to be shippy stuff because they're teens and it'd be unrealistic to not have any of that pop up, the platonic stuff is so much better written.

They're absolutely fantastic. I could consume an infinite amount of Robin + Steve + Dustin just hanging out and being buds and I wouldn't get tired of it. It's so good.

100% I hope this does not become end game, as much as I love Steve and that he's actually had GROWTH, I don't see him and Nancy as compatible.

And I definitely still side-eye Nancy for diving into a relationship with someone who took stalkery photos of her...

Jonathan and Nancy had to get together because a creepy, middle-aged conspiracy theorist told them to.

I really dislike Murray. I get that he's "funny" but...yeesh.

Creepy stalkery photos weren't considered as bad in the 80's as they are now. It's completely in character given the time period that both Nancy and Jonathan wouldn't think the act as an isolated case was anything more than a teensy bit problematic. (And canonically this was true, as they're characters and not unpredictable like real people in that a person who takes creepy photos is a red flag for worse potential; the photos really were as far as Jonathan would go and he truly did realize it was wrong later on.)

I prefer them so much as friends, they work better that way but the romance-baiting with the two of them this season was annoying as hell. I don't ship J/N and don't think they're compatible at this point either since they can't be honest with one another about anything, but the answer isn't to shove S/N together again when they're not really compatible either. All three of them could just be single, but the writers of this show don't understand that concept.

If Steve and Nancy get together again its going to be a fucking miserable end for both of them (short of death).

They aren't the type to stay together. They will get divorced, Steve will be miserable, Nancy will have wasted years of her life on something she never should have tried again...let Nancy get the FUCK OUT OF TOWN.

I actually really love Nancy and Steve a lot, but they are so so much better apart than together, even with all their growth. The minute they started talking Steve fucking regressed in the worst way which proves that no, he is horrible for Nancy and always will be. They are toxic for each other.

I love Steve to death, but he's a fucking loser (and I say that with love) and there is no end for him in this show at this point but death or getting out of dodge with Robin. That's his happy ending--ending up with Robin somewhere being the best platonic soulmate he can be.

I hated Jonathan in Season 1 and could not understand Nancy's attraction to him. He has improved greatly in subsequent seasons, but I still don't like them as a couple that much.

I kind of liked Nancy and Steve, but I agree that it wouldn't be a great development to get them back together, and I don't think Nancy even wants to ride around in an RV with a bunch of Steve's kids.

Meanwhile I'm thinking of seeking out Nancy/Robin fanfic. Not something the show is going to do but it sounds fun to me.

I find J & N insufferable as individuals and in a relationship, and S was a much better character once he no longer was chasing after N. So, frankly, I don't want any of them to end up with each other.
