I have nothing to add, but god I loved this show. It's one of my all-time favorites and it will always feel like some kind of tiny miracle that it was even allowed to run long enough to get to its strongest seasons. It genuinely feels like some higher-up at AMC just fucking loved it as much as we the fans did, and was like, no, we're not cancelling it, I don't care how much it costs, I want it to keep going and I have the deep pockets to make that happen damn it.

Even as an inveterate Xander Hater, I still find it hard to hate him as a character for this one. Like you say - they're just a couple of goofy kids.

I do think it's a bad story choice and episode but that's not the fault of the characters.

I'd be happy with just a cameo from her in the next Dr Strange movie, like if there is a scene in Kamar Taj and Madisynn is just seen bopping around in the background and Stephen has no idea who she is and nobody will tell him.

Oh dude I was 100% into Anubis, jackal head and all, as a kid. Hell I never grew out of that and I am very honest(in fandom) about the fact that I'm into furry/xenokink stuff. I don't know if you're the same in that regard, but if you are: don't worry about it, welcome to the club. And if you aren't: still don't worry about it, brains are weird and make us interested in weird stuff sometimes. Don't overthink it and have fun.

Haven't seen this one but the casting or rather the styling for Heidi is definitely off here. What other changes didn't you like?

I also wasn't a fan of several of the changes made in the 2015 movie, although the styling/cast was pretty good in that one.

I'd love it if F!S were more active again, like it was a decade ago, but I'd rather that be a few hundred people becoming regulars, not floods of thousands, so I definitely agree with you OP. Also, my brain runs away with irrational worries about things involving youtube, and fandom, so I identify with that bit too!

Seeing this image just gave me so many flashbacks. To this show, the one with John Ritter, the one with the redheaded dude, and then Reba and the show with Bonnie and her sister played by Kelly Ripa (which plays a lot on the responsible woman holding everything and everyone together, but who needs to learn to put herself first). I feel like the ones that featured divorced and not exactly mom+dad+kids were often "breaking the mold" in a way for what was often the reality for many people, and reaching "Middle America", as it were.

But man, have I forgotten these shows and what you're mentioning in the secret

It's just exactly what's constantly frustrating about the way Stranger Things writes relationships. They have some idea about how two characters should get together, and so they write them together, and then they have no idea what to do with them afterwards. If they end up getting Steve and Nancy together again, they'll just break them up again later.

Plus the really frustrating bit about it is that Steve has much more interesting relationship plotlines. It's just that they're platonic, not romantic, and the show can't accept that. Despite the fact that it's about a million times better at platonic relationships.
