Edward/Winry. They felt very much like siblings to me until the “Oh I’ve fallen for him/You love Winry don’t you?”, Ed reads as aroace to me, Winry deserves better and I can’t imagine Ed being a good husband or father.

It’s so many people’s “exception” for shounen endgame het and unlike Roy/Riza, I don’t get it at all.

sa Oh, and Ed growing up to be a 5’11” hunk who’s a whole head taller than Winry. Huuuuge dick move to short people IMO.

They'd both be bad parents and spouses, but Winry would be worse. I know it's anime but the way Winry beat up Ed for destroying her automail hit differently than standard anime tsundere violence.

In FMA? Where they do comedic violence as a visual gag all the time?

Yeah, actually. In the manga, the other comedic violence is treated like normal anime comedic violence, that is, little to no reaction from the characters and you can see that they're fine after the violence happens to them. Winry's violence to Ed has Al and other bystanders shouting "Are you ok?!" and sometimes does a censor blur over Ed's body implying it was mutilated too grotesquely to show until it snaps back to normal with anime gag magic. It know it's all supposed to just be funny too, but I hate it. I would have loved Winry if not for that, but because of it I despised her.

nayrt. Yay! Someone else thinks this! There was always something about Winry smacking Ed about that always seemed to go to far for me.

And agree with dislike of the pairing. It was not at all believable, they were basically siblings and acted like it until it just turned on a dime. They gave Ed a very OOC twist to make that happy family ending happen.

Yeah, they have sibling energy. And I dislike "there is girl in this boys group she should end up with someone from this group" plots
