Re: How do you feel about low to mid effort costumes?

I'm 100% in favor of it.

I grew up going to cons at a time when plenty of people did dress in costumes, sometimes as a character, but cosplay as we know it now was not really a thing yet so I think there has been a bit of an attitudinal shift where some people (often people who've never done costuming/cosplay themselves) might be more inclined to sneer at a low effort costume because they are used to seeing either amazingly perfect cosplay or just people in fandom T-shirts with no in between (I also haven't been to a con since 2014 so I don't know exactly what things are like these days). You might get some side-eye from people who think low effort costumes or "Disney-bounding" style dressing is only appropriate for Halloween (or Disneyland), but they can go kick rocks.
