I empathize with you, OP, while simultaneously acknowledging that many of my faves are white men and that I'm not remotely sorry about it. Honestly, I think we've all had times when our tastes haven't remotely aligned with the majority of fandom's taste, and it genuinely is annoying, despite the fact that nobody is doing anything wrong in liking what they like. And if your character preferences happen to tend towards characters who are female and/or non-white, then unfortunately your preferences are very often not going to align with the major fandom fixations, because fandom definitely does love its white male characters.

The thing I disagree with is the idea that the characters cited in your secret are boring. You find them boring, and that's fine. Personally, I don't. Of all the criticisms I might level at those characters (and there's plenty), "boring" isn't really one of them.
