I'm not a Kylo Ren fan and don't know who the middle guy is, but Jaskier is delightful and a breath of fresh air from all the Broody Mc Boodersons in the show.

I'm not attracted to men either and I get twitchy when it's assumed that if I like a male character a lot it must be because I'm attracted to him. (I'm also not attracted to women but being a woman myself almost nobody assumes that's the reason when I like a female character.) I know, that's probably a big reason for most of the popularity of these characters, but the way it's used so sweepingly as THE reason and assumed that all girls who like male characters who are considered attractive like them for that reason still sits wrong with me.

OP needs to consider that just because these guys are boring to them, they're obviously not boring to everyone. Rather than another round of the woke version of "stupid fangirls," how about promoting and hyping up the characters you do like? Write fic about them! Draw art of them! Talk about why they're great and help motivate more people to make content about them!

Middle character is One from Stranger Things (that's the character's name, it's One)

I know, that's probably a big reason for most of the popularity of these characters,

IMO it's just so common for that to be the reason that it's probably a fair generalization for a lot of purposes. But obviously that doesn't mean that you should be a dick about it or assume that the generalization is true in all cases.

I wanted to like Jaskier. I expected to like Jaskier. Alas.

I didn't mean to imply it was the only reason, just listing out ways I mentally try to be fair. And "attraction to character" has been given to me, a lesbian, as a reason why I don't understand the White Guy Fandom Darling multiple times, including on this site, so it had to be included. Obviously, it doesn't apply to everyone.

Same. Not a Kylo fan and don't know who the middle one is, but Jaskier is lovely. Also he sings! And he makes friends with mice! What is not to like? And the actor did some hilarious vids during the pandemic.

I DO fnd him attractive as a man, but looks alone won't win me over for a character.

People like what they like. Personally I just like a sexy villain. Kylo is okay, not a favorite. Don't know the other two. But yes, I have a type, and I don't see a problem with that.

My love of Kylo Ben is probably the only time my interests aligned with the fandom and even then, that enjoyment pertained to how he connected with Rey.

I greatly enjoyed Jaskier as a character until I started dipping my toes into the Witcher fandom and found lots of fans who thought he was a main character on the same level as Geralt and got angry when he wasn't in every other scene.

Sometimes you just have to step back from fandom and enjoy things on your own terms.

I empathize with you, OP, while simultaneously acknowledging that many of my faves are white men and that I'm not remotely sorry about it. Honestly, I think we've all had times when our tastes haven't remotely aligned with the majority of fandom's taste, and it genuinely is annoying, despite the fact that nobody is doing anything wrong in liking what they like. And if your character preferences happen to tend towards characters who are female and/or non-white, then unfortunately your preferences are very often not going to align with the major fandom fixations, because fandom definitely does love its white male characters.

The thing I disagree with is the idea that the characters cited in your secret are boring. You find them boring, and that's fine. Personally, I don't. Of all the criticisms I might level at those characters (and there's plenty), "boring" isn't really one of them.

I feel you. Not liking character that fandom likes usually means I am not going to be in this fandom. Making content for unpopular things is good and all, but I can't find enough energy for this.
Although I somehow often enough get into fandoms there people love "slay, queen" characters and call it activism. And I am tremendously uninterested in evil sexy female characters. So it's... fun
