I watched this as part of a utopia/dystopia module for my degree and it was incredible - and for a sexy robot crush, Maria's a decent one!

Oh, she is one of the most beautiful of robots by far!

Man I still need to watch this. I agree, she's a very beautiful design!

Definitely a good sexy robot choice, OP! Way more gorgeous than C3P0.

I was disappointed by how boring that film was. I had high hopes for it.

Fair. The imagery in Metropolis is stunning, but the actual story is a little bit (a lot) on the 'moral parable' side. Visually it's spectacular, thematically not so much.

NAYRT

I agree. I love its visuals, the art design is awesome, but the story is meh.

me too. I do think, as disappointing as I find it, that it's sort of a rite of passage for film geeks to at least have seen it. I feel that way about Carnival of Souls and Eraserhead too.

Metropolis' proto-Art Deco aesthetic, iconised in Maria, was 100% a look, hard agree. She's only in this form for a little while before it's covered over by evil human Maria, but it's easy to see why this single image is the one everyone thinks of when it comes to this movie.

OP, are you Richard Herring?

Yes, her design is gorgeous, good choice.

Oh, man. Saw this as a kid late at night some Saturday, and it was so strange and creepy and amazing! Have loved it to death ever since.

She's an excellent First Sexy Robot Crush (and the behind-the-scenes of what the actor had to do to act in that costume is pretty amazing!).
