I was disappointed by how boring that film was. I had high hopes for it.

Fair. The imagery in Metropolis is stunning, but the actual story is a little bit (a lot) on the 'moral parable' side. Visually it's spectacular, thematically not so much.

I agree. I love its visuals, the art design is awesome, but the story is meh.

me too. I do think, as disappointing as I find it, that it's sort of a rite of passage for film geeks to at least have seen it. I feel that way about Carnival of Souls and Eraserhead too.
