I completely agree with your sentiments about the 9/11 Only Time thing. The first time I heard that on the radio it made me want to throw up. Seriously, what do the lyrics or anything have to do with what happened on 9/11? It's ridiculous. I think the only reason they chose that song because it was popular at the time and it sounded soothing...? Or something? I'll never get it.

What annoys me even more is that the Madeline McCann campaign took 'Everything I Do" (the Robin Hood song) and stuck it on their website without asking for permission first.

It has nothing to do with the case other than the first line being "Look into my eyes" and Madeline having a slight eye colour defect

That whole case annoys me though. If the McCanns had been low-class CHAVs rather than middle-class doctors they'd have been torn apart by the press from the get-go. A negligent middle-class parent is still a negligent parent

YAY! An Enya secret! Oops. Long rant ahead.

A lot of people don't seem to be able to tell songs of certain genres apart, and yes, it's irritating. But seriously, I think Enya herself is partly to blame. I think she's been riffing on a single theme for much too long.

Ok, now I'm going to reveal my Enya nerdiness. Yikes.

She gave an interview after she released Watermark where she explained that being romantic was such hard work, she wasn't sure she was going to do any more albums. Then she released Shepherd Moons and I was horrified that she'd replaced her grand piano for a synthesizer that I thought cheapened her sound. (They even edited out her piano bench squeaking during Miss Claire Remembers in the CD release!) I fell in love with Enya's stuff because it had such tight, complex melodies and harmonies, and the synthesizer seemed to ruin it and make it a more tinny, less organic sound.

And then I died a little when her song got used for Far and Away and she actually started releasing the movie version with the English lyrics instead of the original version that came out with the first printing of the album.

Since then it's been kinda like she's been riffing on the same theme for too freaking long. I liked Amarantine because the songs weren't just all about perfect love--they were about leaving loved ones and ending relationships. But her sound is still very much the same as it always was. So I can totally see how people would get her music mixed up with people who were probably trying to become just as popular by having a similar sound, but the whole reason she's not all that anymore is because she can't move on and mature in her music.

I still haven't been able to bring myself to buy her newest album.

Enya should take a page out of her sister's book. Two Horizons was, I think, Maire's/Moya's (however she wants to spell it) best album to date. Maire's sound has matured a lot since Ce Leis, and even though it was Enya that first introduced me to Maire/Clannad, I'm more looking forward to Maire's stuff than Enya's.

I'm not that familiar with Enya or her music but i recognize her i am, however, familiar with Dead Can Dance and the fact that people thinks is Enya in Gladiator soundtrack is both funny and annoying, Lisa Gerrard and Enya are nothing like each other and even if their music could sound a bit similar you can still tell them apart.

People usually don't care that much about music so they don't care when they're ignorant about certain artists/songs/genre, this is something that happens with every music genre not just Enya's.

I hate it when Adiemus gets attributed to Enya. As much as I love Enya, Miriam Stockley FTW!
