I'll admit that my only involvement in FMA is reading the manga and reading FS.

I got bored of the first anime, didn't like the changes blah blah... Haven't seen any of the second anime. Not involved in comms.

However, on FS at least, there seems to be far more people in favor of the old anime over the new anime, or even old anime over the manga. Maybe that's just FS, but I'm not sure why this needs to be a secret, unless you just want a pat on the back?

It's just FS. Out in normal FMA fandom, you're supposed to like the manga more. I'm the total opposite (the manga bores me, but the anime is my life and what got me into fandom in the first place and my favoritest thing ever and all that) and don't hide it, but some people who are probably less lurky that are afraid to have their F-list know they like the old anime more than the manga post here.

Don't you think it says a lot that there are no secrets proclaiming that they like the manga more? It's because, on the whole, it's seen as much more acceptable. I know that many manga fans claim on this comm to have encountered elitism from the anime fans, but my experience has been almost exclusively the opposite. On main FMA comms, on tvtropes, on forums, on /a/, even in OOC notes in RPs. It can be pretty disconcerting sometimes.

I mean, I've literally had people insult me for preferring the first anime, both directly and indirectly.

Some times it's just a matter of perspective.
