This. Is OP saying all geeks are autistic?

I think OP is saying that in a video that discusses things like the legendary obsessiveness and social awkwardness of geeks, a video essayist who's usually up on social justice issues should notice those are also traits of autism, and recognize that there's a pretty high proportion of autistic geeks, when they're discussing oppression. Acknowledging that isn't the same as saying all geeks are autistic.

I have to say that I took a long time to realize this. I just thought a lot of fandom people were socially inept geeks because they spent too much time invested in hard sci fi and not enough time with normal shit like rom coms. I guess I was never really aware of autism symptoms or whatever. This wasn’t a topic of discussion when I was in high school in the early 90s.

The overwhelming majority of socially awkward geeks are not and were never autistic, they just didn't socialize enough to learn the rules, or didn't care enough about others to learn. The rallying cry of "but aspergers" was nearly always an excuse for unchanging shitty behavior, because the majority of people with autism worked hard to learn the social rules and fit in. It was the neurotypical assholes who leant on it as an excuse.

OP it absolutely trying to conflate autism and geekiness as 100% connected though in order to bismirch a youtuber they don't like. Now it's fair to not like her or her content, I don't watch her so I have no horse in the race, but it is beyond funny to me when I see ppl talk about how bad antis are and then ya'll just straight up use their playbook to imply someone they don't like is 'problematic' so they have a 'correct' reason to hate them.

Just be a hater, christ.
