I definitely used to believe my toys were somehow alive, as a kid, and invested them with a kind of imagined consciousness. I don't think I had a particular concept of souls, though.

However, I always found Cabbage Patch Kids ugly as fuck, and deeply creepy, so the horror vibes of imagining them waking up and living their own lives at night is very seasonally appropriate right now.
