Ocean's 13 was okay, but I didn't think it was all that great (it felt more like an excuse for the actors to get back together than a story they were genuinely invested in). But I can't decide whether I would rank Ocean's 8 above or below it because Ocean's 8 was just so meh for me. There wasn't the joy I was expecting. It was supposed to be a fun heist movie and it just wasn't. It wasn't a bad movie, but I could see how it could have been so much better and that's disappointing.

Your comment about the lack of joy stood out to me! I agree that 8 didn't have that level of sheer fun to it.

With the previous Oceans movies,I could believe that the gang had known each other for a long time and were friends as well as colleagues. With Ocean's 8, I really only got that feeling between Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett's characters. Everyone else was just sort of there. They were cool and all, but I didn't get the sense that they were a crack team of BFFs in the same way.
