I have a full set of dishes even though I live alone. Mostly because why not, but partly because I hate it in mystery novels when the detectives go to someone's house and they have one plate, one fork, and one spoon and they talk about how alone they were. Although with me it would be more like "She was always alone but she had some nice dishes."

I live alone but have plenty of cutlery and dishes because I'm terrible at washing up, so I'd run out all the time if I didn't have lots.

I don't want to think about how true crime podcasts would describe me though, ughh.

I am terrible at washing up also, but if I had only one plate I'd have to wash it every time I used it and there would be no other plates to pile up so it would have advantages. Some people in my Facebook cleaning group highly recommend it, but I couldn't do it.
