It was a good movie, but it was scary. I mean, I'm pretty sure I watched Alien on late night television that same year, but I definitely wasn't allowed to. But no, the marketing on Gremlins did not convey well what it was about and from what I recall, a lot of parents brought their kids all unsuspecting. I was scared, but thrilled by it, too and even so, I was pretty sure 9-year-old me shouldn't be watching it (I also watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the other film that helped prompt the PG-13 rating, that year, and man, the scene with the sacrifice messed me up).
