I feel you, OP! I was raised by a hella Evangelical Christian and wasn't exposed to anything scary or horror—certainly not Halloween, the Devil's Holiday!—so I have little tolerance for it now. My "scary movie countdown" this month has been:

The Thing (1982)
Young Frankenstein
Rocky Horror Picture Show, and
(for actual Halloween night) Beetlejuice

You'll notice that only one of those is actually horror. As long as you're enjoying yourself it sounds like you're having a good time!
