if you're that old then you've lived through decades of both good and bad practical effects, terrible rotoscoping mistakes, a decade of truly awful CGI, and then better CGI which has made shitty CGI stand out like spray-painted bubble wrap. whether practical or computer, bad effects are bad effects that take people out of the story. ain't no high ground here.

that said, CGI artists and animators need a union like the makeup and costume guilds. farming out your green-screening to the lowest bidder helps no one except the Disney front office.

The spray painted bubble wrap did not stand out, it still was awesome. CGI is great, stop complaining about it not looking "good" enough.

Agreed on the unionisation. Everyone should join a union, every single damn person. If there isn't a union, then form one. They don't pop out of thin air. They need built.

Every single damn person? Not sure there's much practical use in a union for unemployed disabled folk, unfortunately.

You could support an organization that lobbies for your interests, though. That’s what a union is.
