I've gone to plenty of cons, met a bunch of celebs (Nick Frost and Simon Pegg for example didn't charge anything for autographs) and it was a lot of fun. Yes, I was aware I was paying them for the interaction. But I could afford it, I wanted to spend the money and I enjoyed the experience, even if it was, for example, meeting Benedict Cumberbatch for a few mins.
There's a lot of condescention in these comments.
People spend their money on all types of ridiculous things all the time. Gees, can we stop with the judging already?
