I mean, you can usually tell who does need the photo money and who doesn't. Actors who are still regularly getting work, probably not. Aging actors whose last big role was 20 or 30 years ago? Yeah, they kinda do.

I go to enough cons that I've seen the gamut and I genuinely think less of rich, well-paid actors still working regularly charging anything over 50 for a signing. They don't need it and it reeks of, "I don't want to be here doing this but at least I'm skimming a hundred bucks apop from these nerds." Not saying they're all like that for real but lbh Shatner is the epitome of this.

I saw Christopher Lloyd at a con in 2019 - not only was there a charge for both pics and signings, but he looked grumpy as hell to be there too. Gave his table a wide berth!
