Tumblr updated their community guidelines, and antis are getting real smug on my dash about being able to report "anything promoting pedophilia" because it means they get to call ~problematic~ fanfiction "CSEM" some more, as though that term wasn't invented specifically to exclude anything that doesn't involve real people.

(For the record, I have no idea how the Tumblr mods are actually planning to handle 100% fictional text-based smut involving 100% fictional minor characters, I just get really fuckin pissed when people equate CSEM to things that are not CSEM.)

Yeah, like it's disgusting to me how they're happy to make it harder for people who are ACTUALLY trying to do the work of removing csem because their idea of 'icky ships' is... what, more important than actual children??

Like there are ships I find icky, I block/filter and move on with my life, I don't endanger real life children about it!

From the amount of times I've heard about them spreading actual real CSEM of people just because they are "proshippers", I am inclined to agree. Because the alternative is that they do know, and choose to spread it anyway, and I'm not ready to lost that much faith in humanity just yet.

I'm so sorry. I agree with the sentiment that it's not even about protecting children/stopping CSA.

Had to talk with a BNF when they were running off on a moral rant about how minors need to leave and anyone who is OK with minors reading their smut is morally wrong and they should feel disgusted. They'd been preyed upon via fandom space as a minor so I get their knee jerk reaction but I sweeeeeeeaaaaaaaaar it's the hardest thing being patient with some people. I'm a victim of CSA myself but I recognize teens go through puberty, they get curious. There are risks and I do whatever I can not to engage with minors when it comes to sexual content but we can't know foe certain 100% of the time who exactly is engaging with our works 🤷‍♀️
IMO wasted energy to write long rants about how morally gross you feel knowing some people don't care about "protecting children" as much as you doesn't do fucking jack shit to
1)stop CSA
2)helps or protects SA victims in any meaningful way outside of your instant gratification of feeling morally superior along witb people who agree with you
3)help the fandom in any way aside from draw up more stupid fucking drama

I don't understand why the term CSEM needs to replace CP because "the word porn implies consent." Since when has it? And even if it did, the word "child" should fix any ideas that it's consensual. Are there really a concerning number of people who think children consent to it? Even people who watch it know it's wrong. I'm more sick of discussions about this issue getting derailed because someone was in agreement but used the wrong term.

There was a whole thing with teenagers sexting each other and sending picture and getting sent to jail for taking/sending pictures of themselves to each other.

And, like, I'm not going to come out fully on their side or say that these images are ok to share or publish but stupid kids are going to stupid and there's got to be a difference between a 17 year old taking their own picture and a minor getting abused.

What does it even stand for? The true crime forums I'm on have switched over to using CSAM, but I don't know what the E stands for (I'm guessing the other letters are probably the same) and I'm kind of afraid to google it.
